Wesley is a native of Petersburg, VA, where he enlisted in the United States Navy following graduation from Petersburg High School. In 1994, he graduated with honors from Morehouse College where he studied economics and was awarded the Secretary of the Navy Distinguished Graduate award. Wesley received his MBA at the University of Georgia and a master’s in Military Studies from the USMC Command and Staff College.

While on active duty, Wesley’s tour of duty included serving as department head, USS Carter Hall (LSD 50), Joint Staff Officer (JSO) at NATO HQ and military faculty at the United States Naval Academy.

He lives in Concord, NC with his wife Shelia (DNP, UNCG ’23) of 25 years and their two daughters, Faith (21) and Spring (19). Wes enjoys traveling, golfing, biking, and community engagement.

His topics of interest for research include maximizing the hybrid work environment; building an organizational behavior built on effective mentoring, sponsorship, and coaching; and building a pathway to the c-suite for diverse candidates.
