Program Structure

Created with your schedule in mind.

The UNC Charlotte DBA is designed to complement your business schedule. With courses held only one weekend a month, you can continue to lead your organization toward growth while advancing your education. The three-year format of UNC Charlotte’s DBA program allows you to obtain a doctoral degree more quickly than a Ph.D. program.

As a DBA student, you will master the existing body of knowledge in your field, and develop new knowledge through original, independent research. The initial focus of the program is on research content and methodology. As you progress through the program, the emphasis shifts toward applied research content courses and projects that address issues confronting contemporary business leaders.

The program is designed to be highly personalized, meaning that you will work closely with a faculty mentor to advise you throughout your coursework and research. In the final year, you work with your mentor on a dissertation that will addresses a complex, cross-functional business problem relevant and valuable to your career.
