Basic Admission Requirements Include:
- A completed application
- $75 application processing fee
- Two essays
- Three positive letters of recommendation
- A master’s degree
- 5+ years of professional experience
For non-native speakers of English, a minimum score of 220 on the computer-based TOEFL, a score of 557 on the paper-based TOEFL, a score of 83on the internet-based TOEFL, or a band score of 6.5 on the IELTS.
Application Process
Transcripts
Applicants should plan to submit transcripts from all previously attended universities or institutions of higher education. An earned MBA or master’s degree in a related field from a regionally accredited college or university is required, with a minimum GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Letters of Recommendation
Three positive recommendation letters are required for admission.
Admissions Essays
Two essays are included as part of the application process. One Statement of Purpose essay should address the your goals and motivations for pursuing the DBA. Another essay should outline your research interests.
International Applicants
The Doctorate in Business Administration program accepts applications from international prospective students.
The UNC Charlotte Graduate School defines "international applicants" as those applicants who are not US-citizens and who hold, or who intend to hold, a temporary visa/status at the time of submitting the application-for-admissions and/or during at least their first semester of studies at UNC Charlotte. This includes students who hold or who intend to hold F-1, J-1, H-1, H-4 etc. visa/status, as well as those awaiting adjudication of their Permanent Resident status (i.e. pending Permanent Residents).

Ideal Candidate
We are looking for determined, motivated individuals with 5 or more years of professional experience, and an MBA or master’s in a relevant program. Our DBA students seek to build on their business knowledge and understanding of high-level research to meet the complex challenges facing companies in today’s dynamic business environment.
Application Deadline
Admission decisions are made on a rolling basis. Students are encouraged to apply early, as the size of the cohorts are limited. Students who are not accepted for a given year, can reapply for future cohorts.
