Elliott Royal is the manager of diversity, equity and inclusion at Brightspeed. She has ten years of experience in community outreach and engagement, building relationships to promote the well-being of all. Her career has spanned multiple sectors: academia, nonprofit, local government (city and county) and the private sector.

Elliott earned her undergraduate degree at Salisbury University and her MBA from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. In addition, she holds two certificates from the University of South Florida in diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace and inclusive and ethical leadership. She has enhanced her skills and prepared for future opportunities by becoming a Certified Diversity Executive (CDE)® from the Institute for Diversity Certification.

Elliott serves as a member of the Advancement League’s Community Impact team as their food access lead. She has held several board member roles for local nonprofits: West Blvd Neighborhood Coalition, Carolina Farm Trust and the Charlotte Mecklenburg Food Policy Council.

Elliott practices self-care by spending time with her wife, Solita, and their baby puppy, Lady. Elliott enjoys cooking and binge-watching documentaries.

Elliott looks forward to strategically assisting organizations in embedding diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging in all aspects of the organization with her DBA. She is interested in researching the historical exclusion of LGBTQ+ employees in the C-suite and senior leadership roles.
