DBA Alumnus Class of 2022
Advance Finance Analytics Senior Consultant, Wells Fargo

Michael Hook’s collegiate career began at Queens University of Charlotte where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 2001. Four years later he completed his MBA at Pfeiffer University. After undergrad, his professional career began at Windstream Communications as an analyst providing data for call center revenue tracking and supporting incoming call volume. In 2008, he transitioned from the communications industry to the financial industry starting at Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. Michael has supported mortgage, home equity, credit card and accounting lines of business with data analysis used to manage operations. Currently, his role as an analyst within Corporate Finance centers on providing process improvement efforts through analytics.

Obtaining his doctorate has been an academic goal of his for some time now and when UNC Charlotte began offering the Doctorate of Business Administration program, it was clear to him that this opportunity fit perfectly with what he is interested in and continuing to advance his career.

When Michael is not working, he really enjoys the outdoors which could be hiking, nature walks, outdoor sports, community service, etc. Any activity that he and his 7-year-old son can get involved in is always lots of fun and gives him a break from the office.

Michael’s area of research interest will primarily focus on process improvement in operations management. Working within the financial industry for the last 10 years as an analyst, he has been a part of several initiatives to streamline processes and make them as efficient as possible. Being able to see the direct correlation between process improvement and the company’s success is very intriguing. He believes the research he will conduct during his residency will give him the tools he needs to propel his career in the direction he is headed.
