Octavia is a Certified Public Accountant working for Cherry Bekaert in the Charlotte Market. Octavia joined Cherry Bekaert after 5 years at PwC in the Private Company Services (PCS) practice. She attended North Carolina A&T State University where she met her husband, DJ. Octavia obtained her master’s at Michigan State University. Growing up in Cleveland she has a passion for Cleveland sports (The Cleveland Browns will win the Super Bowl!) and hopes to pass along the tradition to her daughter Kylei. Octavia has a passion for teaching and is obtaining her Doctorate of Business Administration with the goal of becoming an accounting professor. Octavia currently serves as an instructor for the North Carolina Association of CPAs (NCACPA) and as a board member of a non-profit, Camp Lead UP!
Octavia’s research interests focus on the current state and future projection of careers in public accounting. Her main focuses being (1) the impact of increasing debt on degree and career decisions (2) the impact of technology on the profession, and (3) the impact organizational environments have on competitive advantages of firms.
