James L. Carrothers is a native of Charlotte having attended area public schools before matriculating at North Carolina A&T where he earned two B.S. degrees in Business Administration and Industrial Technology. While at A&T, James was a four year starter on the Aggie Baseball Team, a member of the marching band and pledged Kappa Alpha Psi. Upon graduating, James began his work life in Red Oak, IA with Union Carbide.  While in Red Oak, IA James began his MBA at Creighton University before eventually moving back to Charlotte and completing his MBA at Queen’s College. James is also a graduate of UNC Charlotte having completed a Graduate Certificate in Information Technology.

Married with college educated twin daughters, James in his spare time is heavily involved in music as a bass player and home studio recording producer.  Playing in church as well as in his own band, Mama’s Shirt, James has had the opportunity to play live on a Voice of America broadcast to Europe and Africa, play Jazz in Shanghai as well as a featured writer for China’s number 1 guitar-oriented magazine, Drum and Bass.  James' interest in pursuing a DBA is rooted in a general desire for knowledge and with an aspiration of teaching at the college level one day after life as a Business Consultant, where he is currently an Independent SAP Supply Chain Consultant.

As a traveling consultant with exposure to numerous global companies and industries, James' research interest is centered around management and the application of technology along with new management philosophies based on the aging Baby Boomer generation giving way to Generation X onto the Millennials. With the changing generational experiences, he holds interest in how companies will be impacted, if at all, by these changes.
