I am currently an assistant teaching professor at Wake Forest University. I have practiced as in-house counsel for nine and a half years at a $300 million in revenue supply chain logistics company and at a $4 billion in revenue retail company. I have worked on making complex deals happen and mitigated risk by advising on all types of commercial transactions and agreements including licenses, service contracts, e-commerce related agreements, commercial leases, technology, non-disclosure agreements, joint ventures, purchase agreements, real estate and outsourcing agreements. I also have six and a half years of experience teaching law school in which I focused on business law and training the next generation of lawyers in logical thinking, communications with clients, persuasive argument, professionalism and helping businesses make informed decisions.
I have a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Florida, a Juris Doctorate from Wake Forest School of Law and a Master of Business Administration from the Wake Forest Babcock School of Management. I am pursuing a Doctorate in Business Administration because I want to further my career by becoming a researcher, as well as a professor in business school.
I enjoy spending time with my husband & two kids, running, traveling and reading. I also have a passion for helping non-profit businesses in the community.
My research interests are how management successfully transitions a family owned business to new ownership when the business is bought by a private equity firm and what makes women entrepreneurs successful. The first topic is important because it examines how management can affect change that is mandated by the new owners of a company and whether the employees accept the change or reject it to help make the company successful and increase EBITDA. The second topic is important because it examines what characteristics women can utilize in business to give themselves a competitive advantage.
